Tall, athletic Joanna Kingston has a roguish way about her that draws women like a magnet. Yet, as too many lovers have discovered too late, though Joanna's bedroom door is always open, she keeps her wounded heart under lock and key.

Knowing too well Joanna's "love 'em and leave 'em" reputation, beautiful Fiona Maddison is determined to keep their friendship platonic-unless she can break through Joanna's impenetrable public persona. But as the sexual tension between them starts to smolder, Fiona's resolve starts to melt....

Although a quick read, this actually turned out to be quite enjoyable. It was even a bit reminiscent of Curious Wine in the way the intimate scenes were described. And the writing really depicted the intensity of each character's longing for the other very well. I enjoyed the side stories as well and how Joanna's search for answers about her mother's abandonment played into their relationship.

I didn't expect this to be quite this well written and fluid. One thing I noted was how the author changed the character perspective. I really like the fact that once she started a chapter from the POV of Joanna, it stayed in her POV. Same with Fiona. I really dislike it when authors switch between the lead's thoughts in the same chapter. Maybe that's a bit old school, but it's so much easier to follow to me. I also thought this book might be a bit dated, but it wasn't other than things like people being able to smoke in the workplace. Overall, a very solid, intense story that brings out the hopeless romantic side.

Not one I would read again too drawn out. Description is unnecessary at times. I would also not introduce everyone so quickly. Takes away from story trying to figure it all out.
I was an ok read, characters were complicated and well developed, but I would liked to in the story line more background detail on both main characters.
I loved the book I couldn't wait to turn to next page. The interesting part that seemed scandalous turned into a deep romantic ending. When she finally found her mother she was very happy and the love was sincere. I really enjoyed this book
.
Unique story about how finding yourself first is required before you can really love another soul. Well written with a few fun twists. Loved revisiting Melbourne and Queensland.
I just discovered this author this year. A great storyteller and can really describe the erotic scenes. I wish I had read her work years ago. She is one of my favorites for this genre. No disappointment. I can't wait to read more by this author.
I absolutely loved it! Ann's characters are so well done, they feel like you're hanging out with friends. Her characters are believable and fabulously flawed. She really brings her characters personalities to life.

This is such a wonderful love story. I admit I'm a sappy romantic but this love story is special, simply lovely. The love scenes are beautifully written and the plot is very realistic. If you like lesbian romances, I really think you will enjoy this one.

Thank you, Ann.
I really enjoyed this novel set in Melbourne & Queensland Australia and was able to read it in one weekend. It's the story of a successful career woman in her early-thirties who has a very well rounded life - she loves her job but makes time for her friends and outside activities. Having had a childhood where she was raised by an absentee father and no mother from the age of 5 she avoids developing a committed relationship. However her father is dying, she is attracted to a new woman who wants more than casual sex and has unresolved issues with what happened to her mother. All of this is written beautifully, the author has a love relationship with the written word and beautifully describes the time and place so you feel you are watching it all through the camera lens.

The characters are truly likable and human. They make mistakes and feel pain. They find happiness and you feel their joy.

I found two other novels by this author (Letting Go and Julia's Song) and wish I could find more.

Don't miss this book!
